The Castle was built in the XIII century in the heart of the old village. It belonged to the Visconti family at first and to the Sforza family later. In 1452 the feud and the castle were donated by Francesco Sforza to Michele Matteo Bolognini. The property remained in this family up to their last descendant, Gian Giacomo Morando Bolognini, who, at the beginning of 1900 restored the castle significantly, in order to bring it back to its original beauty. In 1933 the last Count’s wife established a Foundation, in her husband’s name, with purposes of experimentation, education and agricultural propaganda. The Castle was later used as a museum. The museums inside the castle are: Museum Count Gian Giacomo Morando Bolognini, the Lombard Museum of Agricultural History and the Museum of Bread History.
