One of the greatest historical buildings in northern Italy, whose most ancient part dates back to the XII century. It was redecorated and enlarged in the following centuries and now it consists of three adjoining buildings (with three indipendent courtyards and three entrances) which are called “Castello Antico”, “Castello d’Inverno”, “Castello d’Estate”. The Castle is rich in work of art and history, thanks to its strategic position in the defensive system of the Duchy of Milan, and in works of art. The interior is decorated with a cycle of frescoes by Carlo Antonio Procaccini and his school; the private chapel is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, with an altar piece by Cerano; here is also the largest collection of shaving plates (530 pieces coming from all over the world) and many historical and archaeological objects.
