Castles and Villas in Lombardy

Il PIZZO - (CO)

In 1435, Giovanni Muggiasca, a merchant from Como, bought the land, rich in vineyards and olive trees. In 1630, during the plague, the Muggiascas gave shelter to many fellow-citizens who, in exchange helped to improve the land, that was mountain terraced. The Archduke Ranieri increased the exotic plants of the park and completed the extension of the alleys, with the skillful help of the Villoresi, the same garden architect of the Villa Reale in Monza. The Volpi Bassanis improved the park: they built the big terraced boat-house that gives a perfect scenario of the lake.
